Q: What is the format of the written exam?

The written exam consists of two papers , each with 100 Single Best Answer (SBA) MCQs .

Online (Pakistan) : 2.5 hours per paper Conventional (Abroad) : 3 hours per paper

Q: What happens if I fail one paper but pass the other?

You must pass both Paper I and Paper II in the same attempt to qualify for the clinical exam. Failing one means reappearing in both papers .

Q: Are negative marks given for wrong answers?

No. CPSP does not deduct marks for incorrect answers in SBA format.

Q: How soon are results announced after the written exam?

Results are usually posted on the CPSP e-portal within 4–6 weeks after the exam.

About FCPS-II Gynae & Obs Written Exam

The FCPS-II Gynaecology & Obstetrics Written Exam is the gateway to becoming a specialist under the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP). It tests a doctor’s ability to apply advanced knowledge of obstetrics, gynaecology, and related sciences in clinical practice.

The exam typically includes:

Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) to assess broad clinical knowledge
Short Answer Questions (SAQs) to test reasoning, problem-solving, and decision-making

Key areas include antenatal & postnatal care, labour & delivery, obstetric emergencies, gynaecological conditions, reproductive endocrinology, oncology, infertility, and ethics. Success in this exam allows candidates to progress to the Extended TOACS, the final clinical stage of the fellowship journey.
