The FCPS-1 exam is the first stage in the Fellowship of the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) certification process. It serves as a prerequisite for medical professionals who wish to pursue specialized training in fields such as surgery, medicine, gynecology, and more. The exam assesses fundamental medical knowledge and ensures candidates are ready for advanced studies in their chosen specialty. The exam evaluates subjects included in the FCPS Part 1 syllabus, such as clinical knowledge, radiology, and surgery. Many candidates find it helpful to practice with FCPS mock tests and FCPS Part 1 past papers to get familiar with the exam format and strengthen their understanding.
Candidates are eligible if they have: – Earned an MBBS or a similar medical degree. – Finished a 12-month internship (house job) post-graduation. – Registered with CPSP. For international candidates, the MBBS degree must be recognized by CPSP to ensure the academic qualifications meet the required standards.
The FCPS Part 1 exam consists of 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) separated into two sections: – Part I:Focuses on basic medical sciences such as Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, and others. – Part II: Includes clinical knowledge, including Microbiology, Pathology, and Forensic Medicine. The exam duration is 2 hours.
To register for the FCPS Part 1 exam:
Online Registration: Candidates must complete their registration on the official CPSP website.
Required Documents: These include an MBBS degree, internship completion certificate, CNIC, and proof of CPSP registration.
Registration Fee: Payment must be made during the registration process via the available payment gateway.
Three attempts are allowed to pass the FCPS-1 exam.
Validity of Results: If a candidate does not appear for FCPS-2 within three years, the FCPS-1 results may expire.
